There are tons and tons of nonprofit blogs and non-profit related blogs. But what are the blogs that everyone else is reading? A website called topnonprofits.com has created a top 150 list of nonprofit blogs, and this is how they evaluate nonprofit blogs:
- Traffic
- Google’s Ranking/Opinion
- Buzz Depth-Moz’s open site explorer page authority
- Buzz Scope-Moz’s open site explorer linking root domains
- Social-Twitter and Facebook followers/likes
Improve your blog traffic by paying attention to your website mobile friendliness, social network activity and number of likers/followers!
How the list was computed:
1. Over 300 blogs were reviewed in a preliminary screening to determine if they meet the criteria of posting frequency, and definition of a nonprofit blog.
2. Around 230 blogs qualified.
3. Data was collected for each blog from all 5 measured criteria (i.e., Alexa Rank, Open Site Explorer Page Authority, Open Site Explorer Linked Root Domains, Google PageRank, and Twitter Followers).
4. With the exception of Google Pagerank (see below), the blogs were sorted best to worst for each metric and ranked 1-230. Blogs with the same metric value tied in rank with subsequent blogs taking their true rank (e.g., rank = 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9).
4. For Google Pagerank, a weighted value of 15 is given to each blog as their rank (i.e., PR7 = 15, PR6 = 30, PR5 = 45, PR4 = 60, etc.). This approach gives more stable and consistent rankings.
5. A composite rank for each blog is determined by averaging each blogs ranking from the 5 measured criteria.
6. The top 150 blogs were published.
